Epic Family Adventure - Sri Lanka 2015

If your adult children ever ask you to go on vacation with them, the answer should always be: YES!

For one thing, they will pay their own way!

So, in about 9 days, we will all be gathering in NYC (near daughter Rachel and son-in-law Tim's place) with Josh and James (from Atlanta) and the kids' Achchi (Grandma) in tow to jet over to the resplendent isle that my parents came from.

No one would argue that Duane and I didn't give our kids extravagant lives (read: tons of material possessions) but we did try to give them rich experiences. We scrimped and saved so we could take young Josh and Rachel to England and Paris in 1994 and to Sri Lanka in 1999. These family adventures firmly cemented their shared love of travel and the joy that comes from the journey.

Now, 16 years after that first family trip to Sri Lanka (the island formerly known as Ceylon, the jewel of the British colonies, home of the world's best tea) we will return with the partners that our children have chosen to spend their lives with. And I will attempt to chronicle our experiences and discoveries.
